ACADEMY Coaching and ponies to suit all abilities
Cambridge & Newmarket Polo Academy coaches are fully qualified and we offer a variety of options for individuals and groups regardless of riding and polo experience. Our ponies are well schooled and will be selected on temperament and experience, and are happy to find a good match for the complete beginner to professional player. We love to share our knowledge and enthusiasm for this wonderful game.
LESSONS
Cambridge & Newmarket Polo Club offers lessons for players of all abilities. Whether you’re an absolute beginner to polo looking to just get a taste of the sport, or you’re an experienced player looking to improve your game strategy, our resident professionals, including Fabio Lavinia (3 goals), are available to help.
We offer various lesson structures, from a one hour session up to a 5-day course, and are happy to build a program to suit you. Our lessons cater to non-riders who want to learn to ride, experienced riders who would like to give polo a go, and polo players looking to improve their game. We also offer coaching to universities and schools.
Private Lessons
One to one coaching allows you to develop specific skills at your own pace. It is an essential starting point, enabling your coach to assess and create a unique programme specific to your learning and goals.
Lessons do vary: however, riding and riding polo style, precision hitting, positional plays and tactics are an integral part of playing polo. How you progress is very much down to you and the time you have available. We actively encourage and motivate the novice rider throughout their Polo journey.
GROUP Lessons
We hold group lessons for adults and children. These include academy lessons for U21s, group practices and rallies for our pony club teams, and of course adult lessons too. These lessons are grouped by ability and experience and are great fun, and offer very valuable training experiences.
INSTRUCTIONAL CHUKKAS
Our aim is to have you playing instructional chukkas in no time at all. Senior coaches have a wealth of experience coaching and playing at an International level, they too welcome the challenge of developing the ambitious player looking to play competitive club polo and tournaments, as well as players simply looking to have fun.
PONY CLUB POLO AND SCHOOLS & UNIVERSITIES POLO (SUPA)
Cambridge & Newmarket Polo Club and our Pony Club Centre send teams to Pony Club Polo and SUPA friendlies and tournaments around the country. We would love to hear from children and youth players aged from 6 to 21 who are interested in playing youth polo. If you love travelling with your pony and taking them camping, we would love to hear from you!
